"Nations are born in the hearts of poets; they prosper and die in the hands of politicians". This statement of Allama truly reflects the story of the fledgling Pakistani nation. Thirty years of relentless effort as an inspiring poet, a respected statesman, an honest politician, a successful lawyer, a forward-looking jurist, an outstanding philosopher, the spiritual guide to his people and a visionary; Allama Mohammad Iqbal ignited the spark of self-awareness in the Muslims of the subcontinent. His idea of separate homeland based on the "Two Nation Theory" was owned and internalized by the people. He created an environment which infused passion for freedom and liberty, amongst the youth. The Muslim masses of the subcontinent, imbued with the thought and philosophy of Iqbal, set on the course which became a harbinger to the creation of Pakistan. Only Iqbal had the insight and inner-calling that convinced him to approach Mohammad Ali Jinnah, to take charge of the affairs of the Indian Muslims. Jinnah was that charismatic architect of the nation who converted Iqbal's vision into his mission, steered the struggle for independence to success and thus Pakistan was created. Quaid's thoughts were in perfect unison with the vision of Iqbal. On Mar 23, 1940, after the passing of the Lahore Resolution, following words of the Quaid said to Matlub-ul-Hasan Sayyid, bear testimony to this fact. "Iqbal is no more with us, but had he been alive he would have been happy to know that we did exactly what he wanted us to do". After the death of the Quaid, we as a nation miserably failed to accomplish the mission of our founding fathers. The aspirations and message of both Iqbal and Jinnah were criminally forgotten. The diabolical forces of "Malukiat" (dictatorship & sham democracy), "Mullaiyat" (scholars devoid of understanding of true Islam), "Khanqahiat" (pseudo-sainthood) and "Darbaniat" (sycophancy) joined hands and cast their dark shadows on all the segments of our society. The culture of injustice, sectarianism, greed, corruption, bribery, inefficiency, intolerance, violence and militancy into the societal and state structures. The dream of Pakistan as a viable progressive state shattered. The people of Pakistan are waiting for a time when the dreams seen at the time of its creation come true. Is it a farfetched notion? No. We, as a nation, are in dire need of revival of the national vision espoused by Jinnah and Iqbal. If Iqbal's thought and vision showed us the way to freedom in the past, it can undoubtedly lead us out of the present dismal state of affairs. The thought and philosophy of Iqbal must reach the masses. In fact, the path to the real Spiritual Democratic Pakistan is only attainable by adhering to the teachings of Iqbal, accentuating upon the element of "Ijtihad", unbiased pursuit of theological and empirical knowledge and instilling the spirit of creativeness amongst the youth. Dabistan-e-Iqbal established by the family members of Allama Mohammad Iqbal has planned just to fulfil this mission. We all are the guardians of the intellectual and philosophical legacy of Iqbal. We resolve to spread the message of Iqbal, in its truest possible spirit to every segment of the society of our nation and for its implementation we join Iqbal in his saying: خدایا آرزو میری یہی ہے مرا نور بصیرت عام کر دے O Lord, I pray that Thou vouchsafe to them The power of vision that Thou hast given me
